Today show newsreader Alex Cullen introduces his newborn son Max

Today show newsreader Alex Cullen and his wife, Bonnie Campbell, welcomed a baby boy named Max into the world over the weekend.

And on Friday, the couple introduced little Max to viewers during a live interview on the Channel Nine breakfast show.

But their two-year-old twin daughters, Audrey and Evie, had other plans as they interrupted their parents’ chat with hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon.

Bonnie, who was cradling Max, told her husband’s colleagues she was ‘exhausted, happy and overwhelmed’ after giving birth.  

Meanwhile, Alex did his best to stop his rowdy toddlers from knocking over the iPad as they were interviewed live via Zoom. 

He revealed he’d been trying to ‘power nap’ before his son’s arrival on Sunday, without much success.

Come ‘ere! Alex did his best to stop his rowdy toddlers from knocking over the iPad as they were interviewed live via Zoom 

‘I was like, “Darling, can I just have five minutes? I will just crawl over there,” and she was like, “There is no way you are going to have a sleep right now!”‘ he said.

‘And that’s when it really ramped up.’

Alex continued: ‘He was out by just after one o’clock. It was magic. Beautiful.’

As Alex and Bonnie’s twins caused more chaos in the background, Karl joked in the Today studio: ‘You know what, guys? It just makes me want to have more children.’

Bonnie said they were missing their ‘quiet time’ in hospital since returning home, adding: ‘It was the close thing to a holiday.’

Karl then told Alex: ‘Mate, the good thing is you are coming back to work early!’

‘I will be back Monday first thing Karl,’ the journalist laughed in response, as one of his girls tried to distract him.

Doting dad: ‘Bonnie and Max are doing well and we are happy beyond words. Thank you so much to everyone for all your lovely messages and well wishes,’ Alex wrote on Instagram

The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, welcomed Audrey and Evie in January 2019.
