Today show: Sarah Abo takes her $34,000 Toyota Corolla for a spin around Sydney

New Today host Sarah Abo proves she’s more down-to-earth than cashed-up Karl Stefanovic as she takes her $34,000 Toyota Corolla for a spin around Sydney

She may be earning big bucks as the new co-host of the Today show, but Sarah Abo is still driving a car worthy of her old 60 Minutes salary.

The Channel Nine star, 35, has yet to upgrade her wheels since relocating from Melbourne to Sydney for her promotion to breakfast.

She was seen taking her Toyota Corolla Hybrid, worth an estimated $34,000, for a spin around the Harbour City on Friday.

Her vehicle is quite humble compared to the luxury cars owned by her Today co-anchor Karl Stefanovic, who drives a $130,000 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Karl, 48, used to drive around in a $180,000 Mercedes-Benz, and was once seen in the driver’s seat of a $300,000 vintage Land Rover.

Sarah cut a stylish figure in a beige shirt dress, which she teamed with a cap and $1,390 Fendi sandals.

She began hosting Today full-time in January, but had been a familiar face to viewers for some time while filling in for former co-anchor Ally Langdon last year.

Earlier this month, Sarah spoke about her refreshing approach to handling online trolls, saying it’s something she doesn’t take too seriously.

‘If it’s something as trivial as what you’re wearing or the way your hair is [styled], who the hell cares?’ she told the Something to Talk About podcast.

‘As long as I’m doing a good job that’s all that matters. So sure, have a go at my hair or what I’m wearing. I couldn’t care less.’

Sarah also admitted her early morning starts were a shock to the system after working late nights on 60 Minutes for years.

‘I’ve had to completely recalibrate. I’m waking up at a time that would not be too far off [when I was] going to sleep previously, but I’m adjusting,’ she said.

Channel Nine announced in November that Sarah would be replacing Ally on the Today show alongside long-serving anchor Karl, who recently signed a new contract with the network worth a rumoured $1.8million.

She officially joined the breakfast show, which also includes sports presenter Alex Cullen and entertainment reporter-cum-newsreader Brooke Boney, on January 16.

Sarah may have one of the most high-profile jobs in Australian television, but she has worked hard to keep her personal life under wraps.

The journalist has been married to her husband Cyrus Moran since 2012 and they quietly marked their tenth wedding anniversary in December.
