Today show weatherman Steve Jacobs divides opinions as he poses with giant snake in Malaysia: ‘That poor animal’

Steve Jacobs is currently visiting Malaysia and over the weekend he spotted an unusual sight by the side of the road.

The Former Today show weatherman shared a series of images to Instagram in which he posed alongside a huge snake on a roadway.

Unfortunately, the animal was dead, having been run over, and many of his fans were less than impressed by the photos.

‘Poor snake’ commented one person while another said, ‘Omg poor thing’.

Yet another agreed, ‘Sad for the snake, sad death’ with someone else saying, ‘Oh that poor animals’.

Some enjoyed the image, with one person calling it an ‘awesome photo’ while another joked that Steve had found ‘dinner’.

It cones after Steve announced he has opened a new restaurant in one of Sydney‘s top hotspots.

The TV star, 57, told Daily Mail Australia he has partnered with Bonditony’s Burger Joint for the new eatery.

The restaurant is located in Enmore, a thriving entertainment precinct 5kms from the CBD.

In an exclusive chat, the father-of-two said the new career move was a ‘bit of a pivot’ and did not mean he was retiring from television.

‘I’ll still be doing TV,’ he said. ‘TV is just so fragmented at the moment and I’ve spent the past five years focusing on my daughters.’

‘It’s been very hard for me to travel and work full-time which is what I normally do.’

Steve also spoke of his sadness over Channel 10’s Studio 10 being axed last year.

The former Channel Nine star had been working as a freelance reporter and producer on the show.

‘It’s sad because I thought the show had so much potential…but I think its a sign of the times with free-to-air TV,’ he said.

He explained he will continue to work on the airwaves with 2GB in Sydney after his new restaurant, called Tony’s Enmore, launches.
