Today host Sarah Abo reveals the brutal trolling she receives from viewers on a daily basis – and why joining the breakfast show was a shock to the system

Today’s Sarah Abo has shared the astonishing amount of social media criticism she’s faced since replacing Allison Langdon on the Channel Nine breakfast show in January.

Speaking to Something To Talk About podcast on Friday, the former 60 Minutes reporter, 35, admitted she receives daily trolling about even the most banal things, but never takes it too seriously.

‘If it’s something as trivial as what you’re wearing or the way your hair is [styled], who the hell cares. As long as I’m doing a good job that’s all that matters,’ she said.

‘So sure, have a go at my hair or what I’m wearing. I couldn’t care less.’

Abo then admitted her early morning starts were a major shock to the system after working late nights on 60 Minutes.

‘I’ve had to completely recalibrate. I’m waking up at a time that would not be too far off [when I was] going to sleep previously, but I’m adjusting,’ she said.

Channel Nine announced in November that Abo would be replacing Langdon on the Today show alongside Stefanovic.

Abo officially joined the breakfast show, which also includes newsreader Alex Cullen and entertainment reporter Brooke Boney, on Monday, January 16.

She had been a familiar face to viewers of the Nine show, having filled in for Langdon numerous times last year.

‘I am thrilled to be joining the wonderful and hard-working team at Today, who manage to inform the nation every morning while also having a lot of fun,’ Sarah said in a press release.

She may have one of the most high-profile jobs in Australian television, but Abo has worked hard to keep her personal life under wraps.

Sarah has been married to her husband Cyrus Moran since 2012 and they quietly marked their tenth wedding anniversary in December.
