Todd and Julie Chrisley may have to forfeit their two $9 million mansions to pay a $17.2 million fine related to their tax fraud scheme.
The couple, known for the TV show ‘Chrisley Knows Best,’ was sentenced in Atlanta on Monday to a combined total of 19 years in jail after they were found guilty in their $30 million tax fraud case – less than two days after their youngest son was seriously injured in a car crash in Nashville.
While Todd and Julie plan to appeal their sentencing, they have since been ordered by Atlanta Judge Eleanor Ross to pay $17.2 million in restitution.
‘They’re going to have to give up a lot of things, including their homes, sadly,’ a source told the New York Post . ‘They won’t be able to afford it. But their main concern now is their children, especially their youngest boy.’
The couple’s attorney Alex Little said the trial was full of ‘serious’ errors and that they are optimistic about the appeal.
‘Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family,’ Little wrote in a statement. ‘But Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions.
‘Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.’

The couple have been married 26 years and share five children: Lindsie, 32; Kyle, 30; Chase, 25; Savannah, 24; and Grayson, 16.
Grayson, who was recently hospitalized after he plowed his car into the back of a Dodge truck while on an interstate in Nashville, is now under the guardianship of Savannah.
He told police at the time that he couldn’t recall the accident.
The couple first moved to Belle Meade, Tennessee in 2016 and purchased a $1.6 million home with four bedroom at 806 Lynnwood Blvd. The home is now worth $2,877,300, according to Zillow.
The Chrisley’s kept their first 5,200 square foot home and bought a more than 13,000 square foot home in Brentwood for $3.37 million in 2019. The home has six-bedrooms and nine-baths.
Their homes are now worth about a whooping $2 million more than they purchased them for.
But the family may have to give up their mansions following the sentencing this week

Before Monday’s sentencing, prosecutors said they would seek the harshest sentencing for the pair after they ‘built an empire based on the lie that their wealth came from dedication and hard work’.
‘The jury’s unanimous verdict sets the record straight: Todd and Julie Chrisley are career swindlers who have made a living by jumping from one fraud scheme to another, lying to banks, stiffing vendors, and evading taxes at every corner,’ prosecutors said in a court filing.
Todd’s lawyers wrote in a filing that he should not face more than nine years in prison and that the judge should sentence him below the lower end of the guidelines.
Meanwhile, Julie’s lawyers wrote that a reasonable sentence for her would be probation with special conditions and no prison time.

Todd was given 12 years in prison and Julie got seven years – but the couple plans to appeal their sentencing
Julie is also accused of falsifying a credit report and bank statements while during the process of renting a California home, prosecutors said.
US Attorney Ryan K. Bunchanan said that the Chrisley’s sentencing should serve as a ‘warning.’
‘Over the course of a decade, the defendants defrauded banks out of tens of millions of dollars while evading payment of their federal income taxes,’ Bunchanan said.
‘Their lengthy sentences reflect the magnitude of their criminal scheme and should serve as a warning to others tempted to exploit our nation’s community banking system for unlawful personal gain.’
Todd should serve out his sentence at FCI Pensacola, and Julie at FCI Tallahassee – the same prison where Ghislaine Maxwell is serving out her sentence for her involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
The couple plan to appeal their sentencing.
