Dina Asher-Smith is OUT of the 100m final after finishing third in her semi-final and failing to secure a fastest losers spot… but fellow Brit Daryll Neita will appear in final after qualifying by ONE THOUSANDTH of a second
Dina Asher-Smith has crashed out of the 100m after just missing out on a fastest losers spot which was taken by fellow Brit Daryll Neita.
Elaine Thompson-Herah took victory ahead of Switzerland’s Ajla del Ponte who both took the automatic qualification spots ahead of the 25-year-old British sprinter.
Third place is not enough to guarantee a place in the final and now has to wait to see if she can make the final later this afternoon depending on the results of the other two semi-finals.
Dina Asher-Smith faced an anxious wait to see if she made the final after finishing third

Thompson-Herah cruised to the victory and was able to take her foot of the gas with a time of 10.76.
Asher-Smith didn’t make the best of starts but was neck and neck with Del Ponte though the Swiss sprinter was just able to pull away at the end.
There are two fastest losers places, with two further semi-finals for Asher Smith to wait and see if she has made the final.
