Tokyo Olympics: Greece win first EVER rowing gold as Stefanos Ntouskos sets Olympic record

Greece win their first EVER rowing gold at the Olympics as Stefanos Ntouskos blitzes the men’s single sculls to set a new record after finishing in just over six minutes

Greece’s Stefanos Ntouskos made Olympic history in the men’s single sculls on Friday after clinching his country’s first ever gold in rowing – while also setting a record fastest finish.

Ntouskos stormed to the gold medal having finished in just six minutes and 40.45 seconds – seeing off Kjetil Borch of Norway, who claimed silver, and Croatia’s Damir Martin, who just edged out Sverri Sandberg Nielsen of Denmark to claim third.

Ntouskas led early only to see Borch begin to close the gap with 500 meters to go, before the Greek found the late power to pull away and build a lead as large as a boat length down the stretch.
