Tom Brady and Tampa Bay should split, says ex-Bucs QB Shaun King

Tom Brady and Tampa Bay should split, says ex-Bucs QB Shaun King, as he admits QB’s understandably ‘got old’ but ‘looks afraid to throw when there’s chaos around him’… calling for his old team to go in ‘a different direction’

Former Buccaneers quarterback Shaun King has said he hopesĀ Tampa Bay go in ‘a different direction’ from Tom Brady and begin the rebuilding process before it is too late.

King was on the Tampa Bay roster for five years from 1999-2003 where he spent most of his career on the sidelines as a backup.

‘I grew up a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. I’m from St. Petersburg, Florida, that’s been my squad. I rolled with them since he we had bucked Bruce on the helmet. I rode with him after we won the Super Bowl. Up until Brady got there, we were not very good,’ he told The New York Post.

‘That’s my squad. And I think right now it’s time for that organization to head in a different direction. This focus on rebuilding and recreating the younger core that we can move into with.’

Despite calling for his former team to split ties with Brady, King still made sure to credit Brady for the success he has had in his career while pointing out why he thinks it’s time for both parties to move on.

‘Ten Super Bowls, seven wins, I think three Super Bowl MVPs two regular season MVPs, something, it’s a whole lot. And I don’t think we’ll see a duplicated but hell everybody get old,’ King added.

‘So why does everybody want to attack someone that says Tom Brady got old. He did get old. He looks like he’s afraid to throw when there’s chaos around him. Whenever there’s pressure he’s not the same guy he used to be.’

King also made sure to point out that if Brady does wish to remain in the NFL, he will continue rooting for him regardless of which team he potentially moves to.

‘Now if Tom decides to go somewhere else and play I’ll be his biggest fan. But I’m just hoping that the days in Tampa are at an end, because I think this particular group, they’ve reached the pinnacle and now they’re on the decline,’ King said.

‘And I just want us to go ahead and hit the reset button while we still can.’
