Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were seen landing down in one of the favorite countries this week.

The Oscar-winning Castaway actor, 65, and the lounge singer, 64, were spotted at the airport in Greece after a long flight from Los Angeles.

This comes one year after it was announced the Hollywood power couple – who have been wed since 1988 – had been granted citizenship in Greece.

Rita is of Greek descent through her mother, Dorothea, and the couple own a property on the island of Antiparos.

Tom showed off is tanned and toned legs in a pair of purple and black print shorts as he had a face mask on as well as a cap and sandals.

He and Rita both came down with COVID-19 at the start of the pandemic and were very vocal about getting tested.

Rita was seen in a white cotton dress and her hair worn down in soft curls as she made her way to a waiting vehicle. She added black sunglasses and a matching crossbody purse.

In 2020 Hanks became a Greek citizen.

The Bosom Buddies actor and his wife both officially became citizens of the European country, with Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis marking the occasion with an Instagram post.

Alongside a photograph of himself and his wife Mareva Grabowski with the stars, he wrote: ‘@ritawilson @tomhanks are now proud Greek citizens! [Greek flag emoji] (sic)’

Tom and Rita – both of whom were born in California – have been awarded Greek passports and naturalization documents by officials.

Greece has also extended citizenship to their entire family.

They visited the country to celebrate Tom’s 64th birthday.

Meanwhile, Tom and Rita were both diagnosed with coronavirus while in Australia earlier this year.

The ‘Forrest Gump’ star subsequently admitted the illness left him feeling exhausted, and revealed that Rita had a high fever and lost her sense of taste.

Discussing their symptoms, he said: ‘We had very different symptoms. She had a higher fever than I did. She had horrible nausea …

‘We were eating takeout food that I thought was delicious. It was savoury goodness. It had butter sauces. It had come from a thing, highly recommended joint. And she was saying, ‘This tastes like oatmeal to me.’ I thought she was insane.

‘I had bones that felt like they were made out of soda crackers and bone-crushing fatigue.’

Tom also confessed to being shocked by their diagnosis. The acclaimed actor admitted: ‘We had no idea how it could have happened or where.’

Tom has recently implored his fans to wear face masks in public to reduce the risk of spreading the disease. He said: ‘If you can’t wear a mask and wash your hands and social distance, I’ve got no respect for you.’

Also this week it was revealed Hanks has boarded the cast of Wes Anderson’s new movie.

The actor has signed up for the new project, which is expected to be filmed in Spain.

It will mark the first time that Tom has appeared in one of Anderson’s films but sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor will only have a small part in the flick.

Wes is writing and directing the project but plot details are yet to be disclosed.

Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Adrien Brody – all regular collaborators with ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ filmmaker – have been cast in the new movie.
