Tom Hanks’ niece throws an INSANE tantrum as she’s kicked off reality show Claim to Fame

Tom Hanks’ niece had a shocking meltdown after she was kicked off reality series Claim to Fame during the first episode of its latest season – breaking down in tears, belittling her fellow contestants, and screaming that she deserved more ‘camera time.’

The ABC show, which is hosted by Kevin and Frankie Jonas and first premiered last year, follows a slew of people who are all related to celebrities, and sees them trying to guess who the other contestants’ famous connections are.

They face off in a series of challenges and earn clues along the way – and if someone is able to correctly figure out who another’s celebrity family member is, that person gets eliminated from the show.

The second season kicked off on Monday evening – and it certainly began with a bang, thanks to Oscar winner Tom’s niece, Carly Reeves.

Viewers were left shocked when the acclaimed Forrest Gump star’s niece, Carly, 39, was the first to go – and had a major meltdown over her loss.

During the final moments of the premiere episode, hosts Kevin and Frankie asked a contestant named Hugo if he had any idea which star Carly was related to.

And when he successfully theorized that it was Tom, she began sobbing, before she erupted into a screaming fit and stormed off stage.

As soon as Kevin confirmed that Hugo’s guess was correct, Carly got emotional, weeping loudly as she covered her face and headed off to pack up her things.

She then started to yell at the top of her lungs, while hurling a slew of insults at the show as well as her fellow contestants, who listened with stunned looks on their faces.

‘The freaking clues were so freaking obvious,’ she roared. ‘Even [contestant] Gabriel figured it out and he’s not even smart.

‘I didn’t even get to do any challenges. I don’t deserve this. I should have more camera time. I should be here longer. No one expected that, no one.’

Carly’s clue was a park bench – a reference to a very well-known scene from Tom’s movie Forrest Gump.

Footage of the dramatic moment was quickly shared to Twitter where it went viral – gaining hundreds of thousands of views and leaving many on the internet shocked – and entertained – by her intense and unexpected reaction.

Afterwards, budding actress Carly reflected on her emotional response to Entertainment Weekly.

She said, ‘I was really upset. I think I overreacted a little bit, but I’m an emotional, very dramatic person.

‘I was really angry that I didn’t get a chance to play as long as some of other contestants.

‘I mean, there was no one to be angry at. I was just angry in general at myself, and at the fact that I was going home. And then that turned to complete despair and sadness.’

Carly admitted that her comment about deserving ‘more camera time’ was ‘silly,’ but explained, ‘I was just saying things out of my mouth.’

When asked how her 66-year-old uncle reacted to the news that she was going to be on a reality TV show, she said he was super ‘excited for her.’

She continued: 'I didn't even get to do any challenges. I don't deserve this. I should have more camera time. I should be here longer. No one expected that, no one'

After her tantrum, she admitted that she was a little worried for him to watch it because she didn’t want to ’embarrass him.’

In the end, however, she said she still hoped that he tuned in because she thinks he will be ‘happy for her no matter what.’

‘I don’t want to embarrass him for any reason. I hope I don’t embarrass him,’ she said. ‘But I don’t think I do. So, I would love for him to watch it because I think it’s hilarious.

‘He’s happy for me no matter what. He did ask me, “Did you make some money?” And I was like, “Yeah, I made a little bit.” And he said, “OK, good.” So, he was happy that I made a little money.’

Carly has followed in her uncle’s footsteps and has starred in a few movies and shows over the years, including Raise Your Voice, Charlie Wilson’s War, Larry Crowne, Broke at Love, The Bachelor Parody, and Totally Studios.

Tom has famously had a few of his own public outbursts during his career. Last month, he appeared to lash out at a worker as he and his wife Rita Wilson walked the red carpet at the premiere for his film Asteroid City during the Cannes Film Festival.

Pictures showed the actor looking furious as he pointed his finger at the unnamed man, even making a first at one point. But Rita was quick to clear up the confusion, insisting she and Tom simply couldn’t hear what the man was saying.

He also famously screamed at an aggressive fan last year, telling him to ‘back the f**k off’ after his wife, Rita Wilson, was nearly knocked over by a crowd while exiting a restaurant in New York City.

Tom’s son, Chet Hanks, 32, has racked up his own slew of controversies over the years – including accusations of cultural appropriation after he spoke in a fake Jamaican accent, use of the N-word on his social media accounts, and allegations of domestic abuse from his ex-girlfriend Kiana Parker.

Kiana filed a lawsuit against Chet in 2021, claiming he shoved and grabbed her, threatened to carry out a murder-suicide, and branded her a ‘ghetto black b***h’ who wouldn’t be believed.

Chet’s lawyer called her claims ‘completely false, fabricated, and fictional.’

He’s also admitted to struggling with substance abuse issues, once revealing via Instagram that he has battled drug addiction since he was 16 years old and that he ended up selling coke and smoking crack before checking into rehab at age 24.
