Tommy Hilfiger auctioning off collection in October

Tommy Hilfiger is hosting an auction of clothing, furniture and art on October 21

A pair of jeans worn by Marilyn Monroe and one of Mick Jagger’s studded leather vests will be among more than 300 items designer Tommy Hilfiger auction off next month.

The designer has acquired pieces worn or owned by Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger and David Bowie, and other big names. 

Next month he’s putting some of his most treasured pieces up for auction with the help of Julien’s Auctions.

It will feature items once owned by some of the most iconic names in movies, music and fashion. 

One of the most anticipated items is a pair of jeans worn by the legendary actress Marilyn Monroe.

Another big ticket item is Mick Jagger's studded leather vest from his Steel Wheels tour from 1989-90. Hilfiger got it at a charity auction.  It is estimated to sell for between $2,000-$4,000

These iconic sky-high 1970s platform boots worn by KISS guitarist Ace Frehley and are expected to sell for between $600 and $800

A pair of Foremost JCP Co. blue jeans worn by Monroe in the 1954 film River of No Return are expected to sell for up to $40,000. 

Hilfiger previously owned two other pairs of the jeans worn by Monroe, but they were gifted to Britney Spears and Naomi Campbell.

Another big ticket item is Mick Jagger’s studded leather vest from Steel Wheels. It is estimated to sell for between $2,000 and $4,000.

A pair of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley’s 1970s vintage platform boots are estimated to sell for between $600 and $800.

Also in the collection are four tarot prints signed by David Bowie, estimated to go for between $5,000 and $7,000.

Andy Warhol, Truman Capote and Liza Minnelli screen prints are expected to sell for as much as $100,000.

The tarot cards are estimated to go for between $5,000 and $7,000 at the October auction

The collection also has several items from the closet of Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Tommy’s wife since 2008. 

A circa 1960s jacquard maxi dress with gold lamé weave, band collar, fabric covered buttons and loop closure, and stone marten fur cuffs still has its Oscar de la Renta Boutique label. 

There is also a jersey color block maxi dress designed by Louis Féraud.

Also from Dee’s closet is a 1960s royal blue maxi dress with a scattered butterfly print by Banlon.

It is similar to a Lanvin maxi dress with a bold floral print dress, fitted silk jersey bodice, an emerald green satin ribbon belt and a full piqué skirt that is also in the collection.

A pair of single-breasted wool coats with velvet collars custom made for Tommy Hilfiger by Saville Row tailors, Anderson & Sheppard Ltd. are also up for auction

Darren Julien, President and CEO of Julien’s Auctions said in a press release: ‘We are excited to present this auction event with one of the great trailblazers of American fashion.’ 

‘Tommy Hilfiger’s distinctive brand has traversed the worlds of fashion, music, art and entertainment like no other designer in the world,’ he said. 

The collection has 348 items in total.
