The drummer, 59, performed four songs at Atlanta’s Truist Stadium on Thursday before explaining to fans that he needed to take a break, with Black Sabbath drummer Tommy Clufetos stepping in to finish the set.

Lee added that doctors had advised him not to  perform at all but that he refused not to give it a go, given that the band’s comeback tour had already been delayed for two years due to the pandemic.

‘I know, I wish I had a f***ing bad ass story like me and Conor McGregor f***ing scrapping out at some f***ing bar or something, but I don’t.

‘Anyway I hope you guys have a f***ing great time and my boy Tommy Clufetos back here is going to help me get through this.

‘But I’ve been resting and healing and even though the doctor tells me I  shouldn’t play at all, you know I’m stubborn and I’ll beast through the pain every show for as many songs as I can!

‘And have no dear, my boy Tommy Clufetos is here to help me out until I’m back at 100%… we’ve all been waiting years for this moment and there’s no way I’m missing this! On with the show!’

Motley Crue – formed of drummer Lee, bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars and singer Vince Neil – are on The Stadium tour alongside Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett, which will conclude on September 9 in Vegas.

Lee should be back to his best by then as broken ribs usually heal within three to six weeks.

The rocker recently reached a new fanbase after his relationship with Pamela Anderson was revisited in Pam & Tommy.

While Anderson was not pleased with the racy biopic, Lee threw  his support behind the series, which follows their tumultuous relationship and their stolen sex tape.

Lee was portrayed by Sebastian Stan in the show, while Lily James took on the  role of Anderson.
