Toni Kroos has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock exit from Real Madrid last summer has ‘made everyone happy’.

Ronaldo brought his trophy-laden time at Real to an end after wanting a new challenge elsewhere after he helped guide the club to their third successive Champions League trophy.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner sealed a £100million move to Juventus last year and has since gone on to win the Serie A title in his first year while winning the competition’s player of the year award for his efforts.

Speaking to SportBild, Kroos admitted that while they missed Ronaldo’s goals, the German star insisted that the deal was right for each party involved.

‘It would be strange if you didn’t miss someone like Cristiano Ronaldo, who has decided so many matches with his goals,’ the 2014 World Cup winner stated.

‘His transfer, however, made everyone happy. He wanted a new experience and Real Madrid earned a lot of money.’

While Juventus have reaped the benefits of their new talisman, Real have struggled and endured a trophyless campaign.

While Real clearly missed Ronaldo’s talents in front of goal, Zinedine Zidane has been back in transfer market so far having brought in the likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Rodrygo from Santos.

The £100m fee received for Ronaldo has gone to helping rebuild the squad which Kroos believes will get the club back to winning ways.
