Tony Armstrong reveals surprising plan for his existing Logie Award if he wins another – as he jokingly declares ‘war’ on Gold Logie winner Hamish Blake

Tony Armstrong has revealed his surprising plan for his existing Silver Logie statuette if he wins a second one later this month.

The ABC News Breakfast host, 33, shared a post to Instagram on Tuesday revealing he plans to put the trophy to good use by converting it into a beer tap.

Alongside a photo of him posing up a storm with the Silver accolade, he wrote some hilarious words: ‘I’m up for another one of these.

‘If we get it, one of them is becoming a beer tap at the Chippo pub. Let’s take down Hamish Blake,’ he wrote.

He added he will be celebrating with his famous mates later this month by cooking some linguine pasta if they all win a Logie at the ceremony on July 30.

It didn’t take long for Tony’s celebrity pals to comment on his hilarious post.

‘Happy to be corrected but I don’t think a Logie has ever been used for that purpose which now you mention it seems insane,’ wrote Meshel Laurie.

Meanwhile, Gold Logie winner Hamish Blake took the jab in good stride, joking: ‘I would normally rally the troops to respond to such a blatant declaration of war but let’s face it, I’m here for the pasta.’

Tony won the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at last year’s ceremony for his presenting role on ABC’s News Breakfast.

Back in October, Armstrong revealed his request for a pay rise was approved by ABC management just hours after he won the Logie Award.

The sports presenter had jokingly asked his bosses for more money after winning the Silver Logie for Best New Talent in June.

He was surprised when his tongue-in-cheek request was approved the following day.

‘I get a call from my management, ‘We have had a call from the ABC; they have given you a pay bump”,” he told the Ausmerican Aces Sports Club podcast.

The former AFL player also said his success sent a strong message to his critics.

The 2023 Logie Award ceremony will be hosted in Sydney on Sunday, July 30 and broadcast on Channel Seven.
