Former boxer Tony Bellew has lashed out against Jake Paul after the boxer-turned-YouTuber claimed he didn’t know who the Englishman was.
Bellew, a former WBC world cruiserweight champion and holder of numerous British and European titles, was incensed by Paul’s jibe in a media session with promoter Eddie Hearn, and took to social media to vent his anger at the 25-year-old American.
‘Just in case you needed to know what I look like Jake Paul, this is me!’ Bellew wrote, pointing to a picture of him lifting the WBC belt aloft.

Bellew shared two photos, the first one of him lifting the WBC title in Liverpool in 2016
The Liverpudlian followed up by aiming a sharp blow at Paul’s trainer BJ Flores, posting a second photo of Flores sprawled on the canvas and Bellew standing tall in the ring.
Flores challenged Bellew for his WBC title in 2016 and was destroyed inside three rounds after being dropped four times.
‘The other (photo) is how ya (sic) coach got to know me!’ Bellew continued before teasing a potentially stunning comeback fight against the YouTuber.

‘Creed was Pretty Ricky Conlan! What this is Tony BELLEW! Do not wake the f****** animal up that’s been dead for years.’
Bellew was making reference to his role as Ricky Conlan in Hollywood boxing film Creed, a hugely successful 2015 follow-up to the Rocky franchise starring Michael B Jordan.
The pointed remark came in direct response to Paul’s mocking of Bellew. When asked on Thursday at the press conference for Katie Taylor’s bout against Amanda Serrano whether a fight between Paul and Bellew could be possible, Hearn said it would be a ‘massive’ bout.

When Paul then asked ‘who is he?’ Hearn explained Bellew is a former world champion boxer who also starred in Creed.
‘That’s his claim to fame?’ mocked Paul. ‘He was in Creed? He was in Creed, he was in the back, the janitor in the background. I think I’ve heard that name (Bellew), I couldn’t put a face to it, though.’
Bellew has gone after Paul on social media before, criticising the American for not yet taking on an actual boxer in the ring in his five fights – all of which he has won.
