The ‘world’s best chocolate’ has hit Aussie supermarkets sending fans into a frenzy: Here’s where you can get it
- Tony’s Chocolonely launched in Australia
- Fans say ‘best chocolate ever’
Australian foodies have gone wild for a new European chocolate brand that has launched Down Under.
Tony’s Chocolonely, has been dubbed the ‘best chocolate in the world’, by Aussies who have rushed to supermarkets to grab an $8 bar.
The chocolate, hailing from the Netherlands, has been available in boutique stores but recently hit the shelves of Woolworth’s and Coles, to the delight of many hungry Aussies.
It’s already hugely popular throughout Europe, with many Australians having heard the hype online.
‘This is the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten,’ Melbourne-based reviewer AngeEats said.

Coles offers four different flavours of the chocolate across 200 Australian stores.
While Woolworth’s has seven different flavours available across 180 stores.
The chocolate bar was first launched 13 years ago in the Netherlands, by investigative journalist Teun Van der Keuken.
Teun – also known as Tony – discovered that illegal child labour and modern slavery are still commonplace in cocoa farms in West Africa.
From this investigation, he decided to create the ethical chocolate brand.

After launching in Down Under, Aussie fans have taken to social media to brand it the ‘nicest chocolate ever’ and ’10 times better than Cadbury’.
‘One of the best chocolates out,’ wrote one person.
‘So much better than any Australian chocolate,’ commented another.
‘Love this chocolate. Every time I’ve been to Europe the last few years I bring back a few bars,’ said a third.
Coles are selling the chocolate for $8 for a 180g bar
However, others were concerned about the price tag.
‘I enjoyed this chocolate, but will buy when it’s on sale,’ said one.
‘It’s really good but not worth the price,’ added another.
‘If I spend $8 and it’s not the best tasting chocolate that I’ve ever tried,’ commented a third.
The chocolate has a higher price point due to keeping a slave-free chocolate chain.
