  • Man known for eating a cane toad arrested without bail
  • Alleged to have worn a horror film mask outside neighbour’s house
  • He was on bail for two stalking charges against the same neighbour

A man who gained online notoriety for eating a cane toad has been arrested for allegedly intimidating his neighbour, who had previously accused him of stalking.

Ian Bartholomew, 57, was granted bail for the stalking charges on May 16 after he allegedly followed his neighbour to her car at Toowoomba home, 130km west of Brisbane.

Just hours after arriving home, he is alleged to have been caught on CCTV outside of the same neighbour’s house.

He allegedly walked slowly past her house while wearing a Michael Myers mask, from the Halloween horror film franchise, before staring down the lens of one of the security cameras.

Bartholomew was also found guilty of two charges of wilful damage to the same neighbour’s property in January.

Bartholomew was charged with a single act of intimidating a witness.

His bail was revoked and he will remain remanded in custody until his return to court on July 4.

Bartholomew has built a considerable online presence on TikTok for his eccentric and often bizarre cooking videos.

On April 18, he posted a video to the social media app recounting the events at the  Toowoomba Court House for the stalking charges.

‘Just come out of court and things really didn’t go my way,’ Bartholomew said, before the video cuts to him riding a Segway through the streets.

‘I’m not suggesting for a moment that I haven’t made a huge contribution to the dilemma I’m in by being quite the d***head.’

He then describes his neighbour as ‘goon guzzling’ before revealing her name.

Bartholomew became infamous for catching, cooking and eating a cane toad that he described as ‘delicious’.

In a video posted to TikTok, he showed himself catching a small toad and then putting it inside a plastic bag and into a freezer.

The bloody chopped-up remains of the toad were displayed on a chopping board before Mr Bartholomew put flour on them.

‘A little bit of flour, rosemary salt,’ the cook said as he sprinkled the amphibian’s legs with the ingredients.

The portions were then shallow fried in oil before his mates were seen at the end of the video eating the meaty legs.

‘It’s actually 10 times better than I thought it would be,’ a man said in the video.

‘F****** delicious.’

One disgusted commenter wrote: ‘Sorry, but no, no, no,’.

‘There’s no way,’ another wrote.
