She’s the bonafide beauty icon with more than two million YouTube subscribers – and a barrage more on other forms of social media.
Yet Chloe Morello told Daily Mail Australia that originally she thought she would ‘end up working at the family motel’ in Canberra.
Chloe sat down with FEMAIL to talk about how she got into the lucrative career of vlogging, her top skincare and make up tips, and how she’s getting ready for her upcoming wedding in January.

For Chloe, while she was always passionate about beauty, she didn’t imagine it was something she could make a career out of.
‘I did make up at the weekends and made videos,’ she said. ‘But I was working in a crematorium – I had no idea beauty could become my job.’
When the talented 26-year-old ambassador of Face Halo started to amass followers on her self-made YouTube channel – around 130,000 to be precise – and making money, she made the huge decision to quit her job and try beauty full time:
‘I was making around a quarter of my salary from YouTube,’ she said. ‘I remember a company contacting me to find out if I wanted to be an ambassador for them. That was the moment I thought things could work.’

Initially, growth was slow but steady. The now 26-year-old moved home in order to try to ‘save money’. Her channel really took off in 2014:
‘Now, I’m really trying hard to reach three million YouTube subscribers,’ she said.
‘My fiancé is on board and helping me with the editing processes in my videos – which I hope is going to improve the quality of them.
‘I can’t believe where I am now thought when I think about it, it’s been a journey.’

Speaking about her top make up tips, Chloe said the most invaluable thing she’s learned is to ‘start lightly’:
‘It’s so easy to put on black eyeshadow and for there to be too much. If you start slowly, you can build up.
‘Then, you need to make sure to take your make up off. I use Face Halo’s make up remover pads, which remove every last bit of make up.
‘If you’re going to take a photo of your look, stand in front of a big window, squint with your eyes a little so that they look as though they’re smiling – and know your angles.
‘On Instagram, I favour the Valencia filter – but I don’t turn it all the way up. I play with it a little bit.’
The 26-year-old is also a fan of shaving her face – something which she received a huge reaction for last year when she first admitted to it:
‘I still do it, about once a month,’ she said. ‘It just helps to get rid of the peach fuzz and leave my skin silky smooth.’
She added that while she won’t wear a ‘full face’ of make up every single day, she does make sure she always has her ‘eyebrows done’:
‘I have them tattooed by Amy Jean, but even if I’m wearing minimal make up I’ll make sure I have amped them up with make up. Then, I’ll just wear Perricone MD – which is skincare and make up.
‘A little concealer, some mascara, not too much. I make YouTube videos around three days a week, and on those days I’ll wear much more.’

At the beginning of next year, Chloe said she’s super excited to be getting married to her fiancé, Sebastian Maximiliano.
‘It’s going to be hot, so I’m going to need sweat proof make up,’ she said.
‘I’m hoping to go for really radiant dewy skin, a lightly contoured eye and a nude lip.
‘I’m terrible with hair, so I’m going to need someone to help me with that!’.
In the meantime, she is working with Face Halo as a brand ambassador, as well as remaining focused on breaking the three million subscriber mark:
‘I’ve learned a lot in the past few years in this industry. I’ve learned to do my own tax, run my own business – as well as how to save. I never had to before as I was always in a job where I knew exactly how much was coming in.’
Lastly, Chloe said she’s learned to ‘deal with the hates’ and ‘filter out the negative stuff’.
‘If it’s constructive criticism, I read it and deal with it. Other than that, I block – and I block frequently.’
