Tori Spelling says she is still ‘good friends’ with ex Dean McDermott as he is her ‘biggest supporter’

Tori Spelling wants to make it clear that her divorce from Dean McDermott, 57, is not the typical ‘ugly’ Hollywood spectacle.

‘We’re really amicable,’ she said. ‘I know in Hollywood people think divorces have to be ugly, ours are not.’

The couple share five children together: Liam, 17, Stella, 16, Hattie and Finn, 12, and Beau, seven.

‘We co-parent really well, we’re good friends, and he’s one of my biggest supporters,’ Tori – who looked stunning at the Annual Gala of Stars – told People.

The Beverly Hills 90210 star, 51, filed for divorce from the Chopped Canada host in March, citing irreconcilable differences.

Spelling and McDermott married in 2006 and in recent years, had a tumultuous relationship, which Dean takes full responsibility for.

‘All Tori’s ever done to this day is want me to be happy and healthy and I inflicted a lot of damage and pain on that woman,’ he told DailyMail.com in November 2023.

‘I’m taking accountability for that today. And it’s the biggest amend that I’m ever going to have to make.’

By the time he hit rock bottom, Dean says the duo were living like ‘roommates’ and plagued by money worries and paparazzi while he was deeply depressed, mainlining tequila and drugs alone each night and flying into alcohol-fueled rages that ‘petrified’ his 50-year-old wife and children.

He said he would pass out, leaving a worried Tori frantically checking on him to make sure he was still alive.

Dean spent the summer of 2023 in rehab and now lives a sober lifestyle. ‘Alcohol made me feel good enough. I started feeling good enough until it got to a point where it didn’t – it ended up in isolation.

‘It ended up with me drinking a fifth of tequila every night, seven days a week, and a handful of narcos [prescription meds] by myself with a beautiful family in the other room.

‘That’s what it led to and that’s what led to the brokenness and to what happened between me and Tori.

Meanwhile, Tori opened up about how she  balances and work and motherhood, admitting, ‘It’s not easy.’

“But hey, we all do it. My kids are really supportive,’ she t said. ‘The older ones take care of the little one now, so it’s a built-in kind of community in our household.’

Tori and her partner Pasha Pashkov were among the first to be eliminated from the ABC dancing competition on September 24 and though her kids might not admit it, they are happy to have mom back full time.

‘I’m just back to being a mom now,’ she said. ‘They’re glad I can be their Uber driver and pick them up at all times now, I don’t have to go to dance.’
