Tory Lanez handcuffed and taken back into custody

Tory Lanez’s legal troubles continued Tuesday as the rapper was handcuffed in court after a judge determined he had violated a protective order in his case with Megan Thee Stallion.

TMZ reports Lanez was remanded into the custody of the Sheriff’s Department and had his bail raised to $350K during a hearing in Los Angeles.

The prosecution wanted Lanez to be held without bail, or at have it set starting at $5M. Lanez is currently in the process of posting bail, TMZ reports.

The judge found Lanez violated the protective order in his felony assault case by referring to Megan as ‘U’ in a tweet he posted in February 2022. Lanez is not allowed to contact or mention Megan.

‘Good d*** had me f***ing 2 best friends … and I got caught … that’s what I apologized for … it’s sick how u Spun it tho ..’ he tweeted on Februay 23.

In addition, prosecutors took issue with a tweet DJ Akaemiks posted in February where he wrote Lanez’s DNA was ‘not found’ on the weapon involved in the case.

‘BREAKING: It was revealed in court few moments ago that Tory Lanez DNA WAS NOT found on the weapon in the Meg Thee Stallion case,’ Akademiks posted on February 23.

Prosecutors think the information was relayed to Akademiks from Tory’s camp.

But Shawn Holley, Lanez’s attorney, said this was not possible as Akademik’s initial tweet was not even accurate.

Holley confirmed results from the swab on the gun came back as ‘inconclusive’ with four contributors, making Akademik’s tweet ‘incorrect,’ according to Rolling Stone.

‘If he had seen this document, he presumably would have got it right,’ Holley said, according to Rolling Stone. She also said the swab from the gun’s magazine ‘excluded’ Tory.

TMZ reports Akademiks posted another tweet 15 minutes later which reflected the inconclusive result.

‘The DA requested no bail or, in the alternative, $5 million bail, and the court rejected those arguments and increased bail to $350,000. And that bail is being posted now,’ Holley told Rolling Stone.

In July 2020 Megan and Tory reportedly got into an altercation that resulted in him shooting her twice in the foot which required her to undergo two procedures.

She was attempting to get out of the SUV when he opened fire inside the vehicle. Footage also showed police ordering the pair to leave the vehicle and put their hands in the air as her feet left bloody prints on the sidewalk.

Lanez reportedly shouted ‘dance b**ch!’ when he allegedly began firing shots at Megan’s feet, a Los Angeles detective testified in court in December

‘As she exited the vehicle, she heard Mr. Peterson (Lanez) yelling obscenities at her, and he stated, ‘Dance, bitch!’ And he then began firing a weapon at her,’ Detective Ryan Stogner said during Lanez’s preliminary hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court in December.

The officer also alleged that Lanez — real name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson — was intoxicated during the shooting, and Stogner reaffirmed the Savage singer’s claim that Lanez tried to bribe her to keep quiet, Rolling Stone reported.

Lanez was arrested for a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and was later charged with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

A trial has been tentatively scheduled for September 14 after the judge in the preliminary December hearing determined enough evidence had been compiled by prosecutors to warrant bringing in a jury, according to Rolling Stone.
