Ronald Koeman is set to be given total control of decision-making at Barcelona next season, according to reports.

The former Everton and Southampton coach was announced as the new Barca boss last week after Quique Setien was sacked following the club’s humiliating exit in the Champions League.

And according to Spanish newspaper SPORT, the Dutchman is set to be given the freedom to sign the players he wants in order to rebuild the LaLiga side.

The outlet claim president Josep Bartomeu is set to give Koeman full control on both comings and goings.

They state he will ‘only sign players he sees as crucial to his tactics’ while current players he likes will not be sold if he intends on using them. 

Several stars are facing an uncertain future, including captain Lionel Messi who has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp.

The 33-year-old interrupted his holiday to meet with the new boss but was reportedly furious when details from the meeting were leaked. 

Speaking on Messi’s future after his appointment on Wednesday, Koeman said: ‘He is a Barcelona player. He has another year. I don’t know if I have to convince him to stay.’

Philippe Coutinho is another player with an uncertain future at the Nou Camp after winning the Champions League while on loan at Bayern Munich. 

The midfielder has three years left on his current deal and could stay with the Catalans, despite being linked with a move away.
