Tottenham captain and keeper Hugo Lloris is HOOKED at half-time after conceding FIVE at Newcastle in first-half defensive horror show

Tottenham goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris was unceremoniously taken off at half-time after shipping five first-half goals amid a defensive horror show at Newcastle.

The Frenchman was replaced by Fraser Forster at the interval after Newcastle ran riot at St James’ Park in a crucial fixture in the battle for the top four.

Like all of his team-mates, Lloris endured a torrid time as Newcastle smashed in five goals inside the opening 21 minutes and coach Cristian Stellini took drastic action.

He could only push out Joelinton’s first-minute shot into the path of Jacob Murphy, who finished into the roof of the net to set Newcastle on their way.

Joelinton then rounded the keeper before scoring Newcastle’s second on six minutes after the Spurs back line was totally caught out by Fabian Schar’s diagonal ball.

Lloris then appeared not to react at all as Murphy blasted home from 25 yards for 3-0, standing rooted to his spot as the ball flew beyond him.

Alexander Isak breezed through the Spurs back line to score Newcastle’s fourth before Lloris was at fault for the fifth.

He got a hand to Isak’s shot and should have done better in keeping it out, only to be beaten by the power of the strike.

That proved the final straw for Stellini, who took him off at half-time with no indication Lloris was injured.

Mind you, it could have been more embarrassing, with defender Pape Sarr taken off in shame after just 29 minutes, replaced by Davinson Sanchez as Spurs tried to stop the rot.

More to follow.
