Tottenham have held informal talks with Houssem Aouar’s representatives over a potential move for the Lyon midfielder this summer, according to reports.
Sportsmail revealed this week that Spurs have made an enquiry to Lyon about the availability of their 23-year-old midfielder, who has scored 17 goals in the past two years for the French club.
Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the French midfielder and made several bids for him last summer, but a move never materialised as the Gunners went to sign Thomas Partey for £45million instead.

Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to add a midfielder before the summer transfer window ends
And according to Sky Sports News, Spurs have spoken Aouar’s team but the midfielder ideally wants to move to a team in the Champions League.
Spurs are currently competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League after a seventh-placed finish last term, and go into Thursday’s play-off second-leg tie with Pacos de Ferreira a goal down after the first tie.
Aouar scored eight goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season.
But the 23-year-old is among several Lyon stars placed on the transfer list by Lyon sporting director Juninho. Reports in France claim the Brazilian is so keen to sell Aouar that the club are willing to lower his £25m price tag.

Spurs are looking for a midfielder with Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier looking to leave while Harry Winks could be made available on loan.
Tottenham also have a number of clubs showing interest in a loan for Oliver Skipp though he is currently part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.
Sportsmail revealed on Monday that Spurs have agreed a £14.5million deal plus add-ons with Metz for midfielder Pape Sarr.
The 18-year-old Senegal international will stay with the French side on loan for the season.

Sarr was courted by a number of sides this summer, including Aston Villa, Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea, with Metz president Bernard Serin confirming they had received a number of offers.
However, the player was keen to join Tottenham after holding initial talks. He is due to undergo a medical and is expected to be at Tottenham’s home game with Watford on Saturday, meaning he will miss Metz’s game against Clermont. Sarr is understood to be signing a six-year deal.
Tottenham have expressed an interest in Granada’s Portuguese centre-back Domingos Duarte and remain keen to add another forward. Their initial proposal to sign Wolves’ Adama Traore has been rejected.
