Harry Winks is considering a loan move to Sampdoria in Italy.

The 26-year old Tottenham midfielder had initially been reluctant to go abroad, with his preference to stay in the Premier League.

The former England international has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and will continue to struggle for regular play time this season following the additions of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur this calendar year.

Winks started just nine Premier League matches in north London last season and has yet to feature for Antonio Conte this campaign.

Tottenham are unbeaten in their opening three matches of the season, thrashing Southampton 4-1 before drawing 2-2 to Chelsea and edging out Wolves 1-0.

Meanwhile, Sampdoria have yet to pick up their first win of the Serie A campaign, losing 2-0 to Atalanta and holding Juventus to a 0-0 stalemate.

Winks’ arrival at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium would mark Sampdoria’s fourth loan signing of the summer window, after Napoli’s Nikita Contini, Pisa’s Maxime Leverbe and Roma’s Gonzalo Villar joined the team.

Tottenham have already let four players exit on loan this summer, including Tanguy Ndombele (Napoli), Giovani Lo Celso (Villarreal), Destiny Udogie (Udinese) and Joe Rodon (Rennes).
