Timo Werner and Ben Davies will miss the rest of Tottenham’s season with injuries picked up in the North London derby.

Werner came off with a hamstring problem in the first half of Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at home to Arsenal, and might have played fit the last time in a Spurs shirt.

His loan from Leipzig will expire at the end of the season. There is an option to make the deal permanent but there has been no indication from boss Ange Postecoglou as to whether that will be taken.

Confirming Werner’s injury that will prevent him from making a return to Stamford Bridge when Spurs travel to Chelsea on Thursday, Postecoglou said: ‘Yeah, not good unfortunately.

‘He’s had a couple of issues after the game with his hamstring,’ Postecoglou said of Werner.

‘We’ve only got two-and-a-half weeks to go so he’ll miss the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Davies picked up a calf injury and leaves Postecoglou without a natural left back ahead of another London derby at Chelsea on Thursday.

‘Ben Davies got a calf injury and he’ll miss the rest of the season as well. Everyone else is OK and Skippy (Oliver Skipp) should be back for this game,’ said Postecoglou.

Destiny Udogie and Ryan Sessegnon are both out for the season with injuries.

Centre half Radu Dragusin and right back Emerson Royal are the main options for Postecoglou.

Oliver Skipp is expected to be fit in midfield.

Tottenham have lost their last two and are fifth with five to play, and seeking to cut the seven-point gap to Aston Villa in fourth.
