Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo is the target of a £40million swoop from Tottenham, according to The Mirror.
Mauricio Pochettino is keen to refresh his Tottenham squad with a number of younger players during the summer and 19-year-old Italian midfielder Zaniolo is top of the list.
However, a number of other top clubs are poised to challenge the Champions League finalists for his signature.
Roma wonderkid Nicolo Zaniolo will be targeted by Tottenham for £40million this summer
Zaniolo has enjoyed a breakthrough season in Rome, making 35 appearances and finding the net six times for his club.
He cost just £3.8m when he joined Roma from Serie A rivals Inter at the beginning of the season with Radja Nainggolan going in the opposite direction.
The youngster was swiftly fast-tracked and made his debut against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
His progress was rewarded with a senior Italy debut against Finland in March, and has two caps to his name to date.
Spurs are also keen to target other young players, including £35million-rated Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish, should Dean Smith’s side fail in their play-off final against Derby.
