Tottenham target Marc Guehi ‘could cost as much as £60MILLION’ as Ange Postecoglou’s side ‘prepare to make a move for the England international in the coming weeks’

Tottenham could make a move for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in the coming weeks, according to reports.

With Ange Postecoglou set to take charge of Tottenham from July 1, he has seemingly wasted little time in highlighting where his side needs to strengthen after a disappointing campaign.

The Australian is thought to be after proven Premier League stars, with defence a particular area of importance in his recruitment plans.

Guehi has reportedly long been on Spurs’ radar, but plans to bring in the England international could be accelerated early on in the transfer window.

However, one potential pitfall in the north London club’s pursuit of the highly-regarded defender is the asking price, according to Ben Jacobs.

Reports suggest that Spurs may have to fork out as much as £60million for the 22-year-old Palace star.

Guehi – born in Ivory Coast – has three years remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park, so Palace will surely be in no rush to sell and can demand a higher fee from their city rivals.

The England international, who could feature for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions on Friday and Monday, has become one of the brightest defensive talents in the country since his move from Chelsea.

The 22-year-old missed just one game in the Premier League last season, and kept nine clean sheets across the tenures of both Patrick Vieira and Roy Hodgson.

He is not the only target at the back for Tottenham, if reports are to believed, with Wolves’ Max Kilman also reportedly of interest.

They have also been linked heavily with a move for Manchester United’s out-of-favour club captain Harry Maguire this summer.

As Mail Sport has previously reported, the club have made checks on the England international’s situation at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag’s side thought to be willing to let him leave.

Postecoglou’s appointment as manager on a four-year deal sees the 57-year-old play a key role in deciding on the club’s targets, with their recruitment plans thought to accelerate now that their manager has been installed.

Outside of central defence, Spurs have been linked with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, with Hugo Lloris’ Tottenham career seemingly at an end.

The veteran World Cup winner is thought to have informed the club that he would prefer a move back to France before ending his career.

However, the Bees’ £40m valuation of the Spanish stopper is thought to be one that Spurs are unwilling to meet, potentially paving the way for the likes of Man United and Chelsea to swoop.

Mail Sport also exclusively reported that Spurs had made a joint bid for both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes worth in excess of £50m.
