Getting sand all over your belongings – and yourself – might be the one major downside to a beach holiday.

But the days of having to squelch back to your car with socks full of sand could be over.

A tourist has shared a ‘genius’ hack which helps to keep your feet sand-free at the beach.

In a video posted on Instagram, Liz Richards @dailyorginalvids, reveals that she always brings a plastic bag to the beach.

First, she heads to the sea and fills the bag up with water.

Liz then returns to the beach and holds the bag up by its handles, before stepping inside it with her sandy feet.

When she climbs out, her feet are shown to be completely clean, leaving her free to step into her sliders.

In the caption, she says: ‘I fill a plastic bag with water to rinse the sand off my feet before putting my flip flops back on.’

The video has so far picked up over 90,000 likes with one commenter describing the hack as a ‘good idea’.

However, another commenter wanted to check that Liz took the carrier bag with her, writing: ‘Tell me you take the plastic bag with you.’

Liz replies: ‘Of course! I always reuse them, don’t you?’

Another person suggests improving on the hack by bringing baby powder to the beach.

‘Gail.rose.Iam’ says: ‘Sprinkle it on sandy feet and the sand slides off when you run in it.’

But not everyone hates having sandy feet.

‘Jazzy55_jay’ writes: ‘You’re on vacation! Simply let them dry. The sand on my feet is the last thing on my mind when on holiday!’
