Tourist plunges from cliff face in Bronte

  • Emergency crews rushed to the scene in the city’s east on Tuesday afternoon
  • Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter said the person fell about seven metres 
  • Paramedics are at the scene and treating patient for ‘potential severe injuries’ 

A tourist has fallen from a cliff near Sydney’s Bronte Beach.  

Emergency crews rushed to the scene on Tuesday afternoon after reports a person had gone over the rock face. 

Stephen Leahy, CEO of Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, said they had fallen about seven metres and on to a rock ledge above the water.

‘Police, ambulance on scene and treating patient for potential severe injuries,’ Mr Leahy tweeted. 

He said it was not safe to winch the person to safety and that the rescue helicopter had returned to base.

Paramedics are continuing to treat the patient at the scene.
