Australian Border Force officers confiscated 316 prohibited weapons following the search on Tuesday and are determining what charges will be laid against the man found at the home.
‘These weapons, had they found their way onto the streets of Townsville, may well have been involved in violent crimes and other antisocial and criminal behaviour,’ ABF Townsville District Commander Bronwen Robinson said.
The home was searched after it was identified during a lengthy ABF investigation.
‘The alleged importer, a male who was located at the property, has previously been linked to the prohibited import of items such as automatic knives, knuckle dusters and trench knives,’ Commander Robinson said.
