Townsville residents unveil unique tribute to Pink as Australia’s love affair with the American pop star continues

Pink finished the Australian leg of her Summer Carnival World Tour in Townsville, QLD last month, and residents of the regional town paid a unique tribute to her.

As the American singer, 44, performed in the city on March 22 and 23, talented locals painted an enormous mural of the singer in the city’s CBD.

The stunning painting depicted the performer singing up a storm while having fun amongst some pink palm trees and balloons.

Meanwhile, the Townsville Airport had enormous pink cutouts of the singer displayed throughout the arrivals lounge, to welcome her and her fans to the city.

Further, a mountain that overlooked the city was lit up with huge pink neon lights to mark Pink finishing up her record-breaking Australian concerts in the regional Queensland town.

The incredible tributes to the So What hitmaker showcased just how residents of the midsized city – population 180,000 – marked the global superstar performing there.

It comes after Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, shared a heartfelt message with her Australian fans after her Summer Carnival tour broke records Down Under.

The Pennsylvania native took to Instagram last month to thank them for 20 years of support as she reflected on the massive success of her tour.

She told how her 2024 tour has broken several Australian records, including ticket sales becoming the biggest for any tour by a female artist in the country.

Pink admitted she was ‘lost for words’ by the massive achievement as she described performing Down Under as a ‘privilege’.

She also shared a gallery of snaps of her family day out at a koala sanctuary with her husband Carey Hart and their two children as she gave an insight into her Australia trip.

In her first post, Pink revealed that her record company and promotor Michael Coppel had thrown her a huge party to celebrate her record-breaking tour, days before her final show.

She shared a smiling snap of herself with her manager Roger Davies and Michael as they presented her with a special artwork to celebrate her success.

The artwork, which looked like a concert ticket, documented her years of touring in Australia and recognised her ‘unbreakable bond’ with her fans Down Under.

Gushing over her fans, she revealed that she has become the first singer to play 20 stadium shows across Australia and New Zealand in a single tour and has sold more than 3.1million tickets.
