A hungry driver who took his tractor into Carlisle last night to pick up a pizza was arrested by police under suspicion of drunk or drug driving
A tractor driver who was feeling a bit peckish last night has been arrested for drink-driving while picking up a pizza.
The driver, who took the tractor into town to a takeaway, was arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving in Carlisle, Cumbria.
Cumbria Road Police tweeted a picture of the offending vehicle, alongside the caption: ‘Driver of this trying to get pizza in Carlisle.
‘Arrested drink/drug driving #DrugWipeUK #Unlucky #Hungry #FatalFour’.
Twitter user @bjbrightwell replied: ‘Must have been some mega pizza in order to require that to get it home.’
@SRFoster added: ‘Should have used Hungry House.’
@graeme1spencer said: ‘Not in a drive through?!?’
A social media user claiming to be the man arrested by police has defended himself online.
He said: ‘Let’s be factual instead of fiction. You never pulled anyone as the tractor was parked. It wasn’t perked illegally or even on the pavement.
’50 minutes wait for a pizza and had a drink while waiting no different to having one while out for a pub meal.’
The supposed tractor driver went on to claim that he was released without further action.
