Tragedy after miner dies at site near Kambalda, Western Australia

A man has died a mine site with police and Work Safe investigators examining the cause  of his death. 

He died at the site located in Widgiemooltha, near the mining town of Kambalda, around 60km south of Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia on Tuesday. 

Officers from WA Police were alerted to the incident just before 3pm and attended the scene, before they found the body of the 21-year-old man.

A spokesman for the Work Safe WA Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety told Daily Mail Australia they cannot comment on an active investigation. 

Investigators from the mining industry regulator and officers from WA Police were at the mining site this morning, to examine the circumstances that led to the death of the man.

Sally North, commissioner of Work Safe WA expressed her sympathy following the death of the man. 

‘Every workplace fatality is a tragedy, and I extend my condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time,’ she said.  

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
