  • It comes less than a week after a two-year-old boy was run over in Adelaide
  • Safety groups have called for Australia to make reversing cameras mandatory

A toddler has tragically died after being run over by her family’s car in the driveway.

The 18-month-old girl was hit by the four-wheel drive at Tailem Bend, an hour south-east of Adelaide, shortly before 12.30pm on Saturday, police said.

Paramedics arrived and tried to save the girl but she sadly died at the Tailem Bend Hospital.

Major crash detectives are now investigating the tragic accident.

Only one week ago another toddler was run over in a backyard in Adelaide’s North by a Toyota Prado Landcruiser 4WD.

Sadly the two-year-old boy could not be saved by paramedics and died at the scene.

Last year safety experts called for Australia to follow a move from the U.S. to make reversing camera’s on cars mandatory after a series of toddler and other tragic deaths.
