Tragedy as man who was ‘buried alive’ at a Bribie Island beach dies after brave six-day fight for life

A man buried alive in sand on Queensland’s Bribie Island has died, close associates have confirmed.

Josh Taylor, 25, was left fighting for life after falling into a hole on the popular tourist destination on Saturday afternoon, becoming buried under 1.5m of sand.

He and his mates had been cooking a pig in a sand pit at the time.

Friends and family took turns providing CPR until he was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane by emergency services.

Close associates on Thursday confirmed Mr Taylor passed away ‘with his family by his side’ in hospital.

‘We’re devastated – it’s really been hard for us to comprehend what’s happened to Josh.’
