Two people are dead and two others – including a young boy – are left fighting for life after a horror three-car smash

  • A man and woman have died and a young boy is fighting for life after a car crash
  • Police believe up to three cars collided in Balliang East just after 1pm on Sunday 
  • One of the vehicles was thrown from the road and onto it’s side in the smash 
  • The boy was airlifted to hospital, while the man and woman died at the scene
  • He remains in a critical but stable condition at the Royal Children’s Hospital 

A man and a woman have been killed and a young boy is fighting for life after a multi-car crash in regional Victoria on Sunday.

Investigators believe up to three cars collided on the Bacchus Marsh-Geelong Road in Balliang East just after 1pm at the intersection of Birds Road and Sharkey Road.

Images of the site show one of the vehicles was off the road and resting on its side after the collision.

A 25-year-old man and a woman from different vehicles were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A male toddler was flown from the crash site to Royal Children’s Hospital after suffering serious head injuries in the incident.

He remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Ambulance Victoria said a man aged in his 40s has been taken to a Geelong hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

Victoria Police have released a statement, and are yet to determine the cause of the crash, saying the ‘Major Collision Investigation Unit are en-route to the scene.’

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them.

There have now been 225 road related deaths in Victoria this year.
