  • The veteran striker had been a summer transfer target for Manchester United 

Mario Mandzukic has been offered a lucrative €7.5million-a-year deal to leave Juventus and join Qatar Stars League leaders Al Duhail SC in January. 

The Croatian striker, 33, has fallen out of favour under Maurizio Sarri at the Serie A champions and has been offered a route out of the club.

Mandzukic has not played a minute of Serie A football this season, while he has also been left out of the club’s Champions League squad.

Juventus are willing to pay a portion of the striker’s salary in order to end a contract that was renewed in April and runs until 2021. 

Manchester United have also been weighing up a move for Mandzukic in January as they attempt to bolster a thin attack.  

Rui Faria, former assistant to Jose Mourinho, is currently in charge at Al Duhail, in what is his first managerial job.

The Portuguese has enjoyed a fine start, winning the Emir of Qatar Cup three months after joining the club in January
