Transgender woman said sex hormones she took to transition made her SHRINK

A transgender woman has revealed that she shrunk while taking hormones to increase estrogen in her body and help her transition.

Shaye Scott, 39, a transgender woman from Utah, was 6 foot 5 inches before she change, and shrunk to 6 foot 2 inches while on female hormones.

She underwent a medical transition three years ago, taking estrogen and undergoing facial feminization in April 2023.

Her wife, Amanda, measured her new height in a video, which has garnered 3.5 millions views on TikTok.

The caption read: ‘Estrogen can affect feet and ligaments to make some transwomen lose a few inches, but it depends on the individual.’

According to the University of California San Francisco, ‘some people may notice minor changes in shoe size or height,’ while on estrogen.

‘This is not due to bony changes, but due to changes in the ligaments and muscles of your feet and spinal column.’

Ms Scott has also gone down two shoe sizes. 

Ms Scott and her wife have been married for 13 years and have three children, navigated Ms Scott’s transition together and overcame the challenges of their religious childhood as Mormons.

The couple were measuring their five-year-old’s height one day when they decided to see how much height 

Others in the comments of the video shared their experiences.

One said: ‘I shrunk too. I was 6’1″ when I transitioned in 2019. I’m 5’10” now.’

Another said: ‘I got shorter as well, I was 5’10 now I’m 5’8.’

Ms Scott told Newsweek: ‘I am happy to be a bit shorter. Most of us just want to blend in and live a normal life. 

‘I still feel like I draw attention at 6 feet, 2 inches, but certainly less than I would have at 6 feet, 5 inches.’
