  • Travel blogger shares how you can save big when flying to South East Asia

A travel blogger has shared an innovative way to save money if you are flying to South East Asia from London.

Sharing the video to his account, TikTok user @Ralph_Travels has revealed there is a way to save more than 40% on your flights.

In the video, which has been viewed over 25,000 times, Ralph Smith, 20, says you should change your route to take a stop that could end up almost halving the cost of each flight per person, based on the price of one adult ticket.

Sharing how you can pull this off, Mr Smith says: ‘Instead of flying direct from London, what you want to do is fly [from] London to Athens and then go from there [to Singapore]’.

Flights from London to Athens are available from as little as £18 with WizzAir during the month of April 2024, according to Skyscanner.

On the same site, the Athens to Singapore leg is available to purchase for £176, leaving a total cost of just £194 for both flights.

Conversely, the cheapest direct flight from London to Singapore in April 2024 is currently available for £494, per Skyscanner, an increase of 155%.

Ralph also points out that many other destinations in South East Asia are very cheap to reach from Singapore, making it the ideal stop-off point if you plan to travel to other nearby countries such as Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia.

It comes as he has also revealed how to fly to Milan for around £12 this month.

‘If you type in London to Milan in October, as you can see, you can get flights for around £12 each way.

‘And even return is £11, bringing the total cost to £23,’ Ralph said.

The travel creator even gave an example of what flights you could get for the small amount of money paid.

He showed a Ryanair flight on his screen that departed at 7am from London Stanstead and arrived in Milan at 9.55am.

‘Instead of spending loads of money on a fancy restaurant, head onto Google, book that flight for £23, have one or two nights in Milan and you could probably do it all for under £150.

‘I went to Milan last year with three friends and honestly it was unbelievable. We didn’t spend that much at all, and we still had an amazing time,’ Ralph said.
