They’re travel bloggers whose exotic snaps are the envy of the Instagram world, and now the Australian and English duo behind the Gypsea_Lust and DoYouTravel accounts have shared the secrets to the perfect picture.
In a YouTube tutorial, Lauren Bullen, 24, and her boyfriend Jack Morris, 26, have shown that it takes them only minutes to edit the ideal snap.
But are the tips easy enough for you to follow?

Using Adobe Light Room the duo put an emphasis on making sure you have the right amount of exposure, ensuring your picture is vibrant and how to use colour when editing.
‘The colours I like to use for the photos are usually oranges or greens or something in between, which is especially good for sunrise and sunset pictures,’ Lauren explained.
Before they begin editing both Lauren and Jack start with their own image ‘presets’, which are saved image settings they use as their base.
‘I usually look for a preset that looks the best as it naturally is and the first thing I will do is come over to the exposure and increase it,’ Lauren explained.
She also increases the temperature and the tint of the image, depending on the photo that she’s working on.
‘When a photo is taken in the middle of the day it’s quite harsh lighting, so I usually like to bring the highlights down and the shadows up which evens out the light as you’ve got the shadows and the bright sun.’
Using Adobe Light Room the pair posted a tutorial of their steps to YouTube on how they got their infamous snaps
For this photo that Lauren shared to Instagram she decreased the highlights, increased the shadows and decreased the yellow in her skin tone
‘The next thing is the whites and the blacks and they compliment the highlights and the shadows.
‘So I bring the whites up a little bit and I’ll also bring the blacks up a little bit for a bit of depth.’
Lauren said that for each image she checks that the horizon is straight and crops out any extra unnecessary imagery.
‘Next we have clarity, vibrancy and saturation. I don’t usually touch these ones too much, if anything I bring the clarity down, I don’t put it up.’

For the new image he decreased the warmth as it was too orange, decreased the highlight so as to bring out the background and ‘bumped up’ the shadows to brighten it
Lauren also looks at each colours individually and said that the yellows and oranges tend to effect the skin tone in an image, which she will decrease if she looks too saturated.
‘I like the yellows to be popped out a bit because it helps with the sand, my hair and the yellow of the palms,’ she explained.
She said that often her images are sharp enough so doesn’t usually sharpen them in the program, which is the same for her boyfriend Jack.

Although they have a similar photography style, there are slight differences in how they edit.
In the video Jack explained how he ‘ups the exposure’, ‘decreases the warmth’ and increases highlight to ‘bring out the background’.
Unlike Lauren, Jack brings the saturation to full so that he can pick which colour he wants to use.

If there is an orange tint in an image Jack will increase the blue to decrease the saturation and make certain aspects of an image pop.
‘I normally put a greeny orangey tint in my shadows to give it that vintagey effect,’ Jack explained.
A vintage look is something that he desires for all of his photos and he said that he will often add grey to an image to ‘keep it quite moody’.

This isn’t the first time that the couple have shared the secrets behind their image processes.
They sell the presets that they use for their images so others can emulate their style and they have also created an Instagram account called doyoutravelpresets where they show before and after shots.
Jack previously revealed his tips on his blog Do You Travel on how to take the perfect photo.
‘Most of the time we like to shoot around one hour after sunrise. Busy locations don’t tend to be as busy at this time of day,’ he wrote.
The couple tend to edit all of their photos the same so their Instagram page has a uniform look

He also said that he doesn’t use Instagram filters, Adobe Light Room being his number on choice, and he makes sure his images are cohesive.
‘I edit all my photos in the same kind of style with my own Lightroom presets so I guess they all look somewhat similar because of that.
‘I also look at the grid and try to plan the next image to make sure it works well with the rest of my recent feed,’ he said.

‘I don’t use any mobile apps or filters, I edit using Lightroom on my Macbook Pro. If a photo looks a little dark or contrasty [sic] I sometimes tweak the edit just on the pre post Instagram editor.’
Jack also revealed that he and Lauren take all their own photos and that any snaps of the two of them together are taken via a tripod with a timer remote.
