Travel couple roasted after complaining about visiting Melbourne during Taylor Swift’s show: ‘Boring people don’t belong there’

An English couple have been roasted online after sharing a video to social media complaining about visiting Melbourne during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows.

Travel vloggers Lucie and Josh Russell posted a video to TikTok claiming they had no idea Melbourne would be so packed last weekend and said they regretted visiting.

‘We made a huge mistake staying in Melbourne. We had to stay there for the night and it turns out Taylor Swift is here,’ Lucie narrated over images of the packed city.

‘We had such a nightmare finding accommodation because everything was so expensive. We even googled what’s happening in Melbourne a few weeks ago and nothing came up about Swift.’

Lucie then claimed their trip was ruined because they had to stay in unsatisfactory accommodation due to the more upmarket places being booked out.

‘Ended up staying in a s**tty hostel and it was so dirty. It’s just not our vibe.’

However, the pair did not receive any sympathy from followers, who were quick to roast them for not doing their research before visiting Melbourne during its busiest week of the year.

‘Boring people don’t belong in Melbourne,’ one follower sniped and a second person added: ‘Whinging for bad planning is on point.’

‘Well, at least you learned a lesson about planning,’ a third person chipped in.

It comes after Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour shows in Melbourne over the weekend injected a whopping $174million into the Victorian economy.

Thousands of fans splashed out a collective $86m in the accommodation, hospitality and tourism sector, with CBD spending up 30% compared to the previous month.

Businesses located close to where the concerts were held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground were the biggest winners, with Swifties spending big on hotels, restaurants and bars, according to NAB data.

NAB business executive Julie Rynsk said Swift’s shows had done wonders for the state.

‘From sold-out hotels to bustling restaurants, the economic boost that follows is tangible. The tour has attracted fans from across the world,’ she said.

Taylor will hit Sydney this weekend, with the pop star set to perform four shows from Friday, February 23 to Monday February 26 and Swift Fever is tipped to do similar things for NSW’s economy.
