The Louvre Museum in Paris attracts up to 30,000 visitors a day, with notoriously long queues to boot. But if you don’t have the patience to wait in line, some people in the know have shared news of a hidden entrance that allows visitors to breeze through in no time.
Erin Tridle, who is originally from Los Angeles but now based in Paris with her French husband, reveals how to access the entrance in a short TikTok tutorial which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times. In the clip, she points viewers in the direction of an arch ‘that’s under construction right now and eventually you’ll see a stairway that says Le Carrousel du Louvre.’
The Paris resident instructs viewers to take the stairway down and go through an underground passageway to an entry point located past the ‘big pyramid.’ While crowds of people can be seen around the Louvre’s main entrance, there is no one at Le Carrousel du Louvre stairway.
Before tackling this entrance, Erin advises purchasing tickets online to guarantee entry and so that the PDF can be shown easily to inspectors. Erin said when she took this sneaky route, it only took her ‘about five minutes’ to get through the security and access the museum.
‘It was super fast,’ she exclaims. Many viewers have thanked Erin for sharing her Louvre queuing hack. One fan wrote: ‘Just did this!! It worked in less than two minutes!’
Another viewer said: ‘This was the best tip EVER – saved our day! ‘Barely had to wait and we went in the beginning of August when there were lots of tourists.’ Some viewers, however, criticized Erin for sharing the route.
One said: ‘Then everyone starts queuing at the secret entrance.’ Another commented: ‘Shhh don’t tell people about it.’ In response, Erin said she didn’t expect her now viral video – posted in March 2023 – to get as many views as it did.
