Travis Kelce has confirmed that the Kansas City Chiefs are starting the season in Brazil against Los Angeles Chargers, and he doesn’t sound very happy about it.

Speaking on the latest New Heights episode, which he recorded on Monday, he began by discussing it as a rumor before realizing the show wasn’t coming out until Wednesday, when the full NFL schedule comes out.

The NFL also confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Chiefs will play Dallas Cowboys in Texas on Thanksgiving.

‘This isn’t out until Wednesday? Yeah, we’re definitely playing in Brazil,’ Kelce said.  ‘I’ll be there, not to do a podcast. I’ll be playing football in the f***ing heat.’

Older brother Jason, whose former team Philadelphia Eagles played in Brazil last season, told Kelce the field was’atrocious’ for their 2024 game against Green Bay Packers.

‘The old field thing,’ Kelce said back, before joking about losing the Super Bowl to the Eagles that same season. ‘I’ll tell you what, they were not slipping in New Orleans. I was slipping in New Orleans.

‘There’s just something about getting close to the equator, I don’t want to put on football uniform. I’ve been in Jacksonville in September, that’s f***ing miserable.

‘Sao Paulo, is that by the water? I’d rather it be dry than humid, I’m a sweaty guy. If it is humid, I am going to be miserable. But I am going to find a way to get a win.’

Jason replied: ‘Well, prepare to be miserable. You’re surrounded by the Amazon rainforest.’

Travis continued: ‘I am going to be sweating so bad.

‘I am going to have to ask the equipment guys for a couple jerseys, maybe three pairs of pants. Maybe four cleats, I might just go through a pair.’

Jason added: ‘Socks, you’ve got to think about that. Shoes, soggy shoes.’

The NFL announced all of the league’s overseas games on Tuesday aside from the opponent that the Chargers are facing in Brazil on Friday, September 5.

Kelce, 35, nearly retired in February in the aftermath of his Kansas City team losing the Super Bowl to the Eagles in New Orleans.

But he eventually announced he is coming back for at least one more season, partly because he didn’t want his glittering career to end on such a low note.

If he is to lead the Chiefs back to Super Bowl glory, it is going to be the long way back to the top with the first game in South America.
