While police investigate the death of a popular footy player overnight, friends and strangers have paid tribute to the man described as a devoted father.
Just after 9pm Queensland Police were called to Beaudesert Road in Rocklea, south of Brisbane, following reports of an altercation between two men.
On arrival, Adam Woodward, 35, who played for Brothers St Brendan’s Leagues Club at Rocklea, was located with a neck injury and was declared dead at the scene.

Another man was found nearby with wounds to his hand, face and shoulder.
The pair were known to each other, a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.
No further details have been confirmed by police at this time.
Close friend Taalolo told The Courier Mail that Woodward was more like a part of the family.
‘Adam was like our brother. So loyal and would do anything for family, we love and miss him so much,’ she said.

Family friend Brian Hutton fought back tears as he spoke to media at the scene.
‘I don’t know what to say, he was a good mate of my son’s who was like a second son to me, I’ve got no words really. He was a very good person, he’d done a lot for this football club, very ironic he died here,’ he told 7 News.
He said the victim’s mother couldn’t talk and was absolutely devastated at the loss of her only child.
Mr Hutton lives across the road from the scene and said it was wrong and devastating to know the man who did so much for the football club would died almost at its front door.
‘It’s wrong, that’s (dying outside the club house) the devastating thing,’ he said.

Other friends of Woodward also took to social media to pay their respects to a fallen friend.
‘May the angels above greet you with a drink … love you so much, my heart is so heavy right now,’ one wrote.
‘RIP Adam,’ another added.
‘He will be missed by everyone .. didn’t deserve this to happen to him.’
Strangers also shared their condolences for the tragic loss.
‘Condolences to the family such grief can not be be understood only by the grieving. A loss of a child is devastating,’ one user wrote.

A GoFundMe page was put up to help raise funds for his funeral and to fly his son up form Adelaide.
‘Those who knew Adam adored the man they met, enjoyed the life he lived and always knew Adam would be there should an extra hand be needed,’ the page reads.
