Trinny Woodall reveals what shocks her most now about noughties hit What Not To Wear after her daughter Lyla admitted she thinks her mother would be ‘cancelled’ today

Trinny Woodall was shocked at a husband allowing crew to secretly record his wife in the changing room for an episode of What Not To Wear.

The beauty mogul, 60, hosted the hit show in the noughties alongside Susannah Constantine and saw hundreds of individuals transform their style.

Even though she has ‘mostly good memories’ from the series, she has recalled one particular man allowing a camera crew to secretly film his wife.

Speaking on the Dish podcast, she explained to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett: ‘The people who we did, there were a lot of people who stayed in my mind and we kept in touch with…And that was great.

‘The thing that I can’t believe that we got away with was the husband saying, “Yes, you can video record, secretly, my wife getting changed in the bedroom.”

‘I think Vanessa was our first or second show, and we had hidden cameras to see what she would wear – how she’d get dressed in the morning.’

Trinny wondered how such an arrangement was able to take place as she admitted that all of the revelations were ’emotional’ on set.

She added: ‘I mean, what the editor would have had to look through to get to a place where she was just trying on a yellow top…It’s like, no way!’

‘So there’s a few things like that, but generally, the reveals. You know, the reveals on telly are great, but the reveals in real life are great…Yeah, it was emotional’

‘It was always emotional…And when they came in and they had that moment of, oh my god, this has happened to me.’

The revelation comes just hours after her daughter and her co-star’s daughter insisted that the programme would not be made today.

The pair feel as if the show and their mothers would instantly be ‘cancelled’ because of how it.

They were known for their cutting comments to each others, namely about Susannah’s ‘chicken arms’ or Trinny’s ‘flat chest’.

But making their own joint media appearance, Esme and Lyla joked that their mothers would likely be taken off air now for how they spoke to each other.

‘I think they would be cancelled if the show was made now,’ Lyla told Tatler.

‘You can’t really speak to people like that any more, and say things like, ‘You’re so ugly.’

Lyla, whose father is Danish businessman Sten Bertelsen, is studying communication and digital media at Madrid’s IE University, while Esme did an art history degree at Bristol.

Asked if they’re fans of the show, they both replied simultaneously: ‘I’ve never actually watched it.’

But they do recall some of their time on sets, as Esme said: ‘I remember going to places like Poland or Sweden and doing the European tour things.
