Channel Nine and Triple M presenter Ben Dobbin has suffered a horrific bike accident that has left him with a broken neck and spinal injuries.
The Rush Hour co-host, 48, who is also a sport reporter for Channel Nine, was training for the Noosa Triathlon last week when the accident occurred, reported the Courier Mail.
Ben, who is currently recovering in Brisbane’s Wesley Hospital, told the publication that he had been riding with cycling coach Cam Hughes when he swerved to miss a black snake in the road.
‘My front tyre clipped his [Cam’s] back tyre and I lost control, shot across [the road], got spat out and went head first into the one and only steel pole,’ he revealed.
Ben added that he instantly knew something was wrong and an ambulance was immediately called.
After a CT scan and an MRI Ben was diagnosed with a fractured C5 vertebrae.
Ben underwent delicate surgery on Thursday night and doctors told him there was a chance he ‘might never walk again.’
He added that he was told the surgery, through his throat, that there was a chance he could lose his voice.

‘I told him “that’s my career” and he said: “my priority is to save you from being in a wheelchair for the rest of your life”‘.
Ben added he was told that most people who suffer this type of injury never walk again.
Luckily though, Ben took his first steps post-surgery on Friday but said it would be ‘a long road to recovery.’
Back in 2021, Ben claimed he was asked to leave a luxury Queensland resort after an awkward situation with George and Amal Clooney.

Speaking on his Gold Coast radio show in 2022, Ben ‘Dobbo’ Dobbin told listeners that he was forced to cut his honeymoon short while staying at the award-winning Qualia resort on Hamilton Island, after marrying his wife Amity in early November.
He explained that his wife spotted Amal, 43, after visiting the resort’s spa and decided to take a sneaky photo, which was later leaked to Channel Nine news.
Ben went on to say that he and his wife ‘thought nothing of it’, but were forced to cut their holiday short by two days after being instructed to leave the resort the next day.
A Hamilton Island spokesman has since issued a statement about the incident, writing: ‘As a premium resort destination, Hamilton Island’s primary responsibility is to protect the privacy and comfort of all our guests.
‘For the privacy of all guests, unauthorised photography and filming of guests is unwelcome.
‘Ben was given a warning and was deeply apologetic. Ben was never asked to leave and is more than welcome to return to the Island.’
