Troye Sivan has revealed his father had a harrowing brush with death after getting shot in the head with a nail gun.
The Aussie singer, 29, recalled how his father Shaun Mellet almost died earlier this year after a ‘crazy accident’ while speaking on The Project on Thursday.
Troye reflected on how grateful he was that Shaun was able to see his success at the 2024 ARIA Awards earlier this week, where he took home three gongs.
The One Of Your Girls hitmaker emotionally said it is a ‘miracle’ his father is alive after a shocking mishap which left a 5cm nail lodged in his brain.
‘My dad had a crazy accident this year, he’s completely fine and I just feel like I’m particularly grateful that he was around to see it all,’ Troye explained.

‘He had to have emergency surgery and he’s completely fine, but it’s a miracle honestly.’
Troye then showed host Rove McManus the shocking X-ray, which featured a 5cm nail embedded into Shaun’s brain.
‘Holy s**t. That’s terrifying!’ Rove replied as he looked at the scan.
Thankfully, Shaun completely recovered from the terrifying injury and was able to support his son at the ARIA Awards along with Troye’s mother Laurelle.
Troye dominated the music awards on Wednesday, taking home Album of the Year and Best Pop Release for Something to Give Each Other, as well as Best Solo Artist.
But he left his mother red-faced in one hilarious moment during his acceptance speech for Album of the Year as he made a cheeky remark about his sex life.
Troye revealed his third studio album was inspired by the moments between the Covid lockdowns in Melbourne, when he was single and lonely.
‘In those little glimpses of hope in between, I just started to go out and hook up with random people!’ he told the packed audience at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.

‘I wrote this album about a random stranger that I never saw again.’
His honesty left Laurelle, who was in the audience, visibly shocked and at one point she was seen covering her ears.
The Rush hitmaker went on to reveal that eventually he did cross paths with his one-night stand at a Melbourne wine bar.
Troye revealed their encounter helped provide inspiration for his award-winning album.
‘Music is really, really cool. Go and have a one-night stand with someone. You never know what can happen,’ he concluded his speech.
