Truck destroys car that was pushed onto road by police

This is the terrifying moment a small car is smashed to pieces after a police cruiser rams it into the way of a petrol tanker – but somehow the driver escaped unharmed. 

The incident happened in the small city of Champoton in the south-eastern Mexican state of Campeche when CCTV cameras recorded the police pickup truck whizzing along Carlos Sansores Perez Avenue.

Despite good visibility, the pickup truck bumps the car on to the other side of the road just as a huge tanker is powering along.

With no time to take evasive action, the tanker smashes into the hatchback, destroying the front of it and sending it spinning.

The hatchback motorist was not seriously injured and local media reported that he did not even visit a medical centre for a check-up.

It is not known what will happen to the police driver who inadvertently put the civilian in grave danger. 

There was no suggestion that there was any fault with the police vehicle. Netizens who have seen the footage online were angered by the officer’s dangerous driving.

Immediately after the accident, emergency services appeared on the scene and both cars involved were quickly removed.

None of the people involved were named in reports.
