Truck driver tows car with man sitting on bonnet in Ascot

Incredible footage has shown a tow truck driving off with a man sitting on the bonnet of the car in protest as it is towed ahead.

‘They’re in a lot of trouble if they keep going,’ said one onlooker, as the truck drives down Racecourse Road in Ascot with the man still on the bonnet of his car.

‘They told me to get off and I said, “Nah, not getting off”,’ Dave Peurta told 9NEWS. ‘I’m saving someone some money here.’

But the stunt didn't work, and both the car and Mr Peurta were towed away on Racecourse Rd

In a bizarre twist of events, the car Mr Peurta was sitting on wasn’t even his, but he says that his car was towed earlier in the night.

He (wrongly) thought that if he sat on the car it wouldn’t get towed away, and that he’d be ‘doing someone a favour’.

‘At the start I was like, “Nah, he’s gonna stop any second now, but yeah nah, he just kept going.’

It was at that point that Mr Peurta said that he ‘started to panic a little bit’ before the truck stopped at a red light more than 700m away.

He claimed that the driver knew he was there, but Brissy Towing said that the towie Jose Torente, didn’t know there was anyone on the car.

Mr Peurta then called the towing company ‘a bunch of cowboys’ and said that it was lucky he had his wits about him, hadn’t been drinking at the time and had been able to hang on.

Brissy Towing allege that after the incident, Mr Peurta entered their premises and was aggressive to staff.

He reportedly spat in the face of one employee  – an accusation that Mr Peurta ‘strongly denies’.

The towing company have handed CCTV footage of both incidents to the police, but no charges have been laid so far.
