Traffic at a busy highway came to a standstill after a koala was found roaming its streets late night only for it to be rescued by a concerned truck driver.
Footage shows a truckie trying to carefully approach the lonely marsupial with a blanket.
The clip obtained by Seven News shows the koala sitting in the middle of a highway in Townsville, Queensland.

The truck driver almost manages to catch the marsupial with the blanket but it soon runs off
The driver clad in bermuda shorts and thongs tries to rescue the marsupial with a blanket.
However, the koala runs off as soon as the man gets close.
The clips shows the man not giving up and running towards the direction of the animal possibly to try and capture it once again.
It is unknown if the driver succeeds in his attempts as the clip ends with the marsupial seen running off.
